1920's
Early 1920’s, blown-green glass demijohn bottle from France, approx. 10 liters,
a true specimen of early craftsmanshipIn the old days, these large jars were used for storing and shipping wine
This one is encased and protected with heavy wicker woven with straw through solid wire, creating a unique design.
It carries a unique sturdy handle.
It has a typical applied glass strand collar, and a crude sheared lip
Shipping cost is due to the weight and large size of the package
(I have a more demijohn available, quite similar to this one)
Those popular vintage wine-related accessories are now seen in all decorating magazines,
